The Gulf Islands are unlike most destinations in North America, in the sense that they’re not always set up for last-minute visitors. Due to the nature of the community and low levels of commercial development, there aren’t any big hotel chains who have set up in the area. However, that isn’t to say that there aren’t luxurious resorts and inexpensive motels to stay in. There are certainly bed and breakfast places, a lot of private homes available as short-term rentals and most, but not all, of the islands have public and private campgrounds and marinas.
